Denise Jones is a freelance photographer and journalist living in the gorgeous resort village of Coronado, just across the bay from San Diego. About five years ago, as a diversion to her career as a civil litigation and trademark attorney, Denise launched There’s a Newf in My Soup, a cooking blog originally focused on her foodie group’s culinary-themed Concerts in the Park and her participation in online cooking groups like The Daring Kitchen and French Fridays with Dorie. The name of the blog combines her love for Newfoundland dogs and cooking. As the blog developed, her passion for cooking, food photography and writing opened the door to freelance photography for local restaurants, and writing and photography for Wine & Dine San Diego and Coronado Lifestyle Magazine. Bon Appetit, Fine Cooking, Saveur, Blogher Publishing Network, The Huffington Post Food, The Kitchn, San Diego Reader, San Diego Magazine, Conde Naste Traveler, Coronado Magazine, Coronado Lifestyle Magazine, and eCoronado have published her photos, and food photography from her blog is published regularly by Tastespotting, Foodgawker and Cookbook Karma.
Denise has provided photography for several local restaurants, food and wine events, and resorts including:
When she isn’t photographing, writing, or cooking from her growing collection of cookbooks and magazines, you’re likely to spot Denise on the island with Trapper, her 160 lb. Newfoundland dog, and wining and dining with friends. She also loves to travel, horseback ride, snow ski, fish, and daydream about owning a ranch and B & B in the mountains of Colorado or Montana.
Food and lifestyle photography; food and travel writing; recipe development; social media management; blogging.
